Online test administration results in students selecting more responses to multiple-choice-multiple-response items

چکیده
We developed the Physics Inventory of Quantitative Literacy (PIQL) to assess students’ quantitative reasoning in introductory physics contexts. The PIQL includes several “multiple-choice-multiple-response” (MCMR) items (i.e., multiple-choice questions for which more than one response may be selected) as well traditional single-response items. In this paper, we discuss differences performance on MCMR that seems result from administration method (paper versus online). particular, find a tendency “clickiness” online administration: students choose responses when taking electronic version assessment. Student was not affected by method. These results suggest provide unique opportunity probe and on-paper low-stakes assessments.Received 22 August 2022Accepted 20 December 2022DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevPhysEducRes.19.013101Published American Physical Society under terms Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Multiple-Choice Test Items of Foreign Language Vocabulary
This paper reviews the various multiple-choice formats used in testing foreign language vocabulary with special reference to the underlying constructs of vocabulary competence. While all formats are argued to categorically measure recognition of second language word meaning, they are claimed to differ with respect to whether they measure receptive recognition or productive recognition, followin...
متن کاملA computer-aided environment for generating multiple-choice test items
This paper describes a novel computer-aided procedure for generating multiple-choice test items from electronic documents. In addition to employing various Natural Language Processing techniques, including shallow parsing, automatic term extraction, sentence transformation and computing of semantic distance, the system makes use of language resources such as corpora and ontologies. It identifie...

Introduction: The aim of this study was to use Classical Test Theory (CTT) software for qualitative and quantitative analysis of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) for Master students of health discipline. Methods: This study was carried out on two groups each including 50 undergraduate students of public health, and two groups of 50 and 26 undergraduate students of occupational health. The final...
متن کاملMultiple mini-interview in selecting medical students.
PURPOSE Selecting medical students through interviews seems difficult and the reliability of the results is one of the major concerns. The purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability and acceptability of the Multiple Mini-Interview (MMI) in selecting medical students of Kangwon National University. METHODS Eighty-four applicants participated in the MMI which consists of 3 8-minut...
متن کاملUtility of Complex Alternatives in Multiple-Choice Items: The Case of All of the Above
This study investigated the utility of all of the above (AOTA) as a test option in multiple-choice items. It aimed at estimating item fit, item difficulty, item discrimination, and guess factor of such a choice. Five reading passages of the Key English Test (KET, 2010) were adapted. The test was reconstructed in 2 parallel forms: Test 1 did not include the abovementioned alternative, whereas Te...
